Shades of L.A. is an archive of photographs representing the contemporary and historic diversity of families in Los Angeles. Images were chosen from family albums and include daily life, social organizations, work, personal and holiday celebrations, and migration and immigration activities. Robinez Reid was born in the house on the far right, 1227 N. Commonwealth, at Commonwealth and Hollywood Boulevard, the Reid family home, circa 1930's. The land was purchased circa 1911-12 and Robinez Reid's father built the house circa 1924-25. The house was later sold to a neighbor.
