Photograph caption dated January 9, 1965 reads, "Viljo Jacobson Arleta, center, weighs the first truck to pass the new Castaic Commercial Inspection Station for northbound traffic on the Golden State Freeway. Trucks will undergo a fast but complete physical inspection for weight, height, length, loading requirements and safety equipment. Looking on are Capt. Sam McDaniel, left, and Sgt. Howard Hurlbut of the CHP."
