The squadron which was established to further boating safety, conducts classes at Van Nuys High School open to the public. In addition to its beginning safety classes, more advanced subjects such as celestial navigation, advanced piloting and seamanship are offered to squadron members, with grading and promotions in rank established on a national scale."
