Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated December 11, 1950 partially reads, "At 58, Ezra Brent is a farmer and expects to die a farmer. Born on a farm near Ft. Worth, Tex., he started picking cotton at the age of seven, receiving 50 cents for every hundred-pound sack he picked. Later, Brent was promoted to cotton chopper and his pay scale finally went to $2 and $3 per hundred. That was pretty good, he says. And he managed to raise and educate his five children. Two years ago Brent moved to California. The first thing he looked for was farm labor. He went to work for Guisipie Risso whose farm lands may be inundated by flood waters impounded by the Sepulveda check dam. Brent now farms with modern equipment, drives a caterpillar diesel. He resides at 2012 Knox St., San Fernando." Photograph caption reads, "Half century farmer - Ezra Brent guides Diesel powered tractor over Valley farmland. Brent, 58, has been farming since he was seven years old. Started as cotton picker."
