Photograph caption dated August 15, 1964 reads "Art Shurlock takes a giant swing on the high bar last night at Pasadena City College during a preparatory meet to the Olympic Games gymnastics tryouts in New York. Shurlock took a third in the high bar, while Larry Banner was the all-round winner (six events). Banner had 55.35 points and Shurlock was runner-up in all-round with 55.20."
