Photograph caption dated April 30, 1958 reads, "Mourners dressed in black enter Santa Rosa Catholic Church in San Fernando as police cars in foreground equipped with tear gas and shotguns wait at corner of Hewitt street and Kalisher avenue. Following requiem mass Emellino Chavez, 18, was buried at San Fernando Mission Cemetery without incident. Police had feared possible gang violence."
