Description
Photograph of Spanish caballeros and caballeras, riding on horses near the Plaza Church during La Fiesta de Los Angeles, ca.1901. The men and women are dressed Spanish (or Mexican) style clothing and hats. The men straddle their horses while the women sit lady-like on their horses. They are all lined and spread across the courtyard. Several men and women riders (parade or squad leaders?) stand in front of the rest of the riders. Behind them are a variety of trees. Buildings are visible in the distance. Legible signs include: "L. Scuffi[...], contine[...], 543 Baker [...]", "sign shop", "[...]05 N. Main St., harness & saddles", "[...]aar & Co.". The sign on one of the buildings, which reads "Admiral [...]", has been edited out.
