Photograph caption dated September 28, 1988 reads, "Darla Volkov stares deeply into a 407.48-carat diamond that will be auctioned at Christie's in New York on Oct. 19. The golden-colored gem is the largest rock ever auctioned to the public. It is second in size to the 530.20-carat Cullinan I that is set in Britain's Imperial Sceptre as part of the Crown Jewels. The rock was on display yesterday in Beverly Hills."
