Description
One of the Mount Hamilton Stage Company's carriages is parked at the Lick Observatory. The stage transported thousands of tourists to the Lick Observatory every year. The twenty-eight mile winding road was a three and a half to four hours ride each way. The dome on the left houses a 12-inch refracting telescope.

Master images scanned at 300 dpi and scaled to 6000 pixels on the longest side. Bit depth: grayscale at 8-bit; color at 24-bit. Images compressed to 800 pixels across the long dimension and to JPEG format. Scanning outsourced to Luna Imaging Inc. as part of an LSTA Grant funded by the California State Library in 2003-2004. Scanning hardware is unknown.
