Description
Photograph was edited for publication purposes. Photograph caption dated May 5, 1963 reads, "'Anything can happen.'" Malcolm X addressed a crowd of 200 Black Muslims at the Elks Lodge at 40th Street and Central Avenue. During the rally, two men picketed the meeting on behalf of the Hollywood Race Relations Bureau. Malcolm X asked the police to remove the two picketers, but his request was denied. In response, Malcolm X replied, "we will not be responsible."
