Description
This is how the dumpsite at the entrance to San Pedro, on Vermont between Highway 101 and Anaheim Street, looked at the time Henry C. Soto took on the challenge of beautifying it. Littered streets and trash visible to the passersby through the open wire fence made the dump an eyesore, just as are most dumps throughout the country. It took the imagination and skill of an expert landscaper to tackle this problem and come up with an economically practical, public-minded solution. Photo dated: July 21, 1965.
