Description
Art Spiegelman discusses his magazine, “Raw.” He begins by explaining the origin of the magazine, which began with his book “Maus.” The book “Maus: A Survivor’s Tale” began as a comic strip that told the story of his parents who were holocaust survivors and uses the metaphors of mice and cats for the Jews and Nazis. Spiegelman goes on to share his experiences growing up as the child of holocaust survivors. Also in this interview he discusses “Raw” magazine and the problems that face the genre of comic books and comic book artists. He explains the popularity of comics abroad compared to the United States.
