Description
“N'tumbi mission-house". Exterior view of thatched brick building, with cultivated land to the front and a hill covered with trees behind. The Ntumbi mission, an outpost of Blantyre mission, was established in 1893 by two European women, including a Miss Alice Werner and a couple of native teachers. The ladies left for Blantyre in 1894 due to ill health. The mission was reopened in 1898 under the leadership of "Father Harry", a Yao and evangelist teacher. Father Harry was ordained in 1911.
