Photograph caption reads: "Through the night of the March 10, 1933 earthquake, thousands of men, women and children sat up beside bonfires in vacant lots and yards as they feared to enter their homes lest there be further temblors. The photo shows a group camped in a lot on Cedar Ave. in Long Beach. Other thousands, rendered homeless, walked in the streets."
