Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated December 4, 1961 partially reads, "Two pilots who witnessed the death of four persons in a San Fernando plane crash says an erratically running engine that stalled may have been at fault. The crash occurred at 4 p.m. Saturday in a field near the dead end of Gladstone avenue, south of Maclay avenue, about a block north of San Fernando Airport. The victims were identified as Bill Ray Sain, 30, 13776 Judd St., Pacoima, owner and believed pilot of the four-place 1941-model Bellanca; Charles D. Hampton, 27, 17501 Gilmore St., Van Nuys; Rober [sic] J. Brown, 27, 7926 Garfield St., Bell Gardens, and Howard Lee Langston, 6248 Agra St., Bell Gardens." Photograph caption reads, "Wreckage where four men died in San Fernando plane crash - Police officer Lou Bobbitt inspects remains of the aircraft."
