Description
The photo caption printed in the Sacramento Bee December 4, 1966 reads: "Jered Sheldon and William Daylor, the first white settlers in the Sloughhouse area, are buried side by side in this overgrown graveyard. One of the millstones Sheldon brought from Mexico for his gristmill is imbedded in the concrete slab over his grave. An inscription on Daylor's headstone notes that he discovered the Sloughhouse Valley."
