Photograph caption dated January 28, 1965 reads, "The Van Oaks Chapter of Women's American ORT will sponsor a dinner and auction at 8 p.m. Feb. 6 at the Oakhills Lodge in Sylmar. 'East Meets West' will be the theme of the event and many valuable gifts will be auctioned off. Auctioneer Robert Sheldon shows some of items to members, above, from left, Mmes. Sheldon, chairman; Eugene Weil, Van Nuys, and Melvin Peisakoff, Sherman Oaks. Otto Gruber will be master of ceremonies and provide entertainment. Assisting Mrs. Sheldon are Mmes. Richard Rudin, Al Noveck, Ray Lederman, Paul Gaines, Herbert Moore, dinner chairman; Steve Freedman, Peisakoff, Sidney Edelman and Larry Rotner. Proceeds will go to the new John F. Kennedy ORT School in Jerusalem. Women's American ORT maintains schools in 22 countries, where children and adults are rehabilitated and trained in skills and trades. Reservations are being taken by Mrs. Irving Lynn, 766-6623, and Mrs. Ben Levy, 788-3404. Donation is $5 a couple."
