Photograph caption dated February 23, 1963 reads, "Junior petrologists combine study of geology with work by collecting semi-precious rocks on field trips, cutting and polishing them into jewelry, pen bases, book ends, coffee tables and other interesting projects. Above, Mrs. Earl Hamlin, jewelry adviser, assists petrologists (from left) Lisa Schapers, 11; Don Taylor, 14; John Fooshee, 14; and Frank Hamlin, 12, in jewelry work, project for Gem and Mineral Show in March. They plan to display with Valley Independent Petrologists, the parent group."
