A field where the paper-mulched beds are ready for planting in accordance with the Eckart process. A small plow has been run alongside the strips and has thrown soil against and over the edges of the paper. The covering strips protect the beds against the compacting action of rains and other weather influences, and the original tilth is thus maintained for a long period. The product is manufactured by The Paraffine Companies, Inc., of San Francisco.
