Second photograph caption dated October 17, 1986 reads, "Dayton Hudson's Target discount chain is expected to open 76 stores in the first year of the five-year expansion plan." Third photograph caption dated September 30, 1987 reads, "Operations of Dayton Hudson, nation's seventh largest retailer, include Target discount stores and Mervyn's apparel stores." The first Southern California Target stores opened in San Diego.
