Carl Neal Helms -- 31 years (121 Raymond Street, Santa Monica) self-confessed hired slugger, according to police was slugged instead by his victim Ernest Dunlevie) Sergeant Durman Ordway (of Palm Springs Police Department). Supplementary material reads: "Showing bruises on his face and his shirt blood stained is (left) Carl Neal Helms, 31, 121 Raymond St., Santa Monica, the self-confessed hired slugger, according to police, who was slugged instead by his victim Ernest Dunlevie. The attack took place at 2 a.m. when Helms, according to his signed confession slugged Dunlevie from behind with a blackjack. Dunlevie quickly turned to the attack and subdued his assailant. On right, beside cell door is St. Durman Ordway of the Palm Springs Police Department".
