Photograph article dated January 13, 1950 partially reads, "'Panther' is worried. People are treating him like a black cat today - Friday the thirteenth. A glance in the mirror - and at the calendar - might tell why. Despite his name, he is a cat, and a blue-black (washable) one at that. And yesterday WAS Thursday, the twelfth. That's why few people want to risk a chance encounter with Panther today. (Especially at right angles, with Panther in the lead.) But there's one person who doesn't care. She is his owner, Mrs. Mabel Mitchell, who scoffs at superstition. She has what amounts to a scoffing permit. She was born on Friday the Thirteenth."
