Photograph of a view of the courtyard at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco, ca.1900. The floor of the courtyard is below the viewer at center and is filled with a variety of potted palm trees and upholstered furniture. Towards the back of the courtyard, a restaurant is visible with many tables closely placed within a patio area. There are five stories visible above the ground level. All are similar and have low light-colored railings around the perimeter and thin columns supporting the floor above. Candle holders provide light for the hallways.
