Description
KMEX-DT, virtual and UHF digital channel 34, is a Univision owned-and-operated television station licensed to Los Angeles, California, United States, serving as the West Coast flagship station of the Spanish-language network.
Photograph caption dated April 27, 1963 reads, "secretary [sic] Renee Cargill of KMEX-TV frequently doubles on station's commercials. Here, Miss Cargill, who was born in San Salvador, checks to see that everything is in order for the cameras." Photograph article partially reads, "KMEX, owned and operated by the Spanish International Broadcasting Co., might be termed the Los Angeles flagship of a Spanish-language network. The channel 34 programs most favored by its audience include the Sunday bullfights from Mexico City, boxing twice weekly, music, soccer originating in Mexico City and elsewhere in Latin America. Also soap operas, these latter greatly favored by Latin Americans everywhere. The men behind KMEX are Frank Fouce, of Fouce Amusement Enterprises, operators of the Los Angeles Mayan and Million Dollar Theaters, president; Julian Kaufman, vice president; Rene Anselmo, head of network sales, and Emilio Azcarraga, president of Telesistema. The station employs 48 persons, preponderantly of Mexican heritage." See images 00163155 through 00163158 for additional photos in this series.
