Description
Annotation translation: "Fumban." - "Buying food with cowries, the money they use in Bamum."
Annotation: "Fumban."
Note translation: "Schwarz was right to refer to the people selling shells. They are fresh-water shellfish from the rivers near Fumban. But of course cowries as 'money' were imported sea-shells." (C. M. Geary, E-30-0,7 and E-30-0,8). - the flat objects lying on the ground in the right foreground are a protection against rain and sun (PV 02.2002).
