[Book of Hours]: ff. 1-12v: Calendar in red and black; ff. 13-14v: Prayer to the face of Christ; ff. 15-22v: [f. 15, blank], Short hours of the Cross; ff. 23-29v: [f. 23, blank], Short hours of the Holy Spirit; ff. 30-37: [f. 30, blank], Mass of the Virgin; ff. 37-42v: Pericopes of the Gospels; ff. 43-120v: [f. 43, blank], Incipiunt hore beate marie virginis secundum usum Romanum; ff. 121-144v: Obsecro te, O Intemerata, two other prayers and suffrages of John the Baptist, Peter and Paul, James, Adrianus, Sebastian, Michael, Francis, Anthony abbot, Nicholas, Anne, Mary Magdalene, Catherine of Alexandria, Barbara, Margaret; ff. 145-167v: [f. 145, blank], Penitential psalms and litany; ff. 168-213: [f. 168, blank], Office of the Dead, use of Rome; ff. 213v-217v: Athanasian Creed, and added prayer of the Verses of St. Bernard.
Book of Hours, use of Rome, written at the end of the fifteenth century probably in Bruges as indicated by the saints in the calendar. Span folios: ff. 1-217v (and ff. 87a, 88a). Support: Parchment. Layout: 1¹² 2⁸(+3, f. 15) 3⁸(+2, f. 23 and 8, f. 30) 4⁸ 5⁸(+4, f. 43) 6⁸ 7⁸(+7, f. 63) 8⁸ 9⁸(+3, f. 76 and 8, f. 82) 10⁸(+5, f. 88) 11⁸(+1, f. 91 and 5, f. 96) 12⁸(+5, f. 105) 13¹⁰(+2, f. 111; through f. 120) 14-16⁸ 17⁸(+1, f. 145) 18⁸ 19⁸(+7, f. 168) 20-24⁸ 25⁶(+7). Ruled space, 70 x 50 mm; 15 long lines, ruled in pale red ink. Written in a regular Bâtarde script, with prayers added by two different hands on ff. 87r-v and 217r-v. Decoration: Fifteen full page miniatures on the versos of inserted singletons, blank on the rectos; in slightly arched compartments surrounded by full borders, usually consisting of realistically painted flowers, branchy acanthus leaves, insects, and birds strewn on a gold fields. In the calendar, bracket borders to the left of the text begin each month with square inserts in the upper margin for the sign of the zodiac and in the lower margin for the occupation of the month. Twenty-three 7-line miniatures. Secondary initials, 2- and 1-line, in painted gold on square light-brown grounds with gold tracery; ribbon line fillers in the same colors. Rubrics in pink-tinged red. Bound in 19th century purple velvet, a silver "gothic" fore edge clasp, closing from bottom to top; gilt edges.
