Title supplied by cataloger. A 4,000-gallon storage tank containing paint thinner exploded outside the General Motors assembly plant, located at 7500 N. Tyrone Avenue in Van Nuys, hurling the top of the tank onto a roof at the plant and igniting a small fire, but injuring no one. The cause of the explosion was not known, but was believed to be accidental. GM plant workers inspect damage from Purge thinner tank that exploded this morning, sending the tank crashing on top of the plants roof. Photograph dated July 25, 1988.
