Photograph of the exterior view of the south side of the San Gabriel Mission ("from stern"?), showing the bell tower and a line of ten thick-capped buttresses providing structure for the wall, ca.1875. The belfry stands about two stories tall and has six visible arched openings. A bell is visible in one of the arches. In front of the mission, outside of the picket fence, is a row of trees.
