Description
A group photograph of Atsushi Ishida, Takashi Ishida, Jim Hara, Nari Sasaki, Sadao Yatabe, Minobu Nishimori, and other friends of Atsushi Ishida posing in front of barracks entrance in suit jackets in the Jerome camp. Atsushi calls the group "Gang." Print scan is found in item: csudh_ats_0246.

The Atsushi Ishida Collection is comprised of photographs, negatives, camp newspapers, WRA documents, ephemera, and correspondence, chronicling his time immediately after/during his incarceration in the Jerome camp, Arkansas, and the Tule Lake segregation camp, California. The majority of the photographs in the collection were taken by Atsushi Ishida and he would often develop them in his room in the barracks where he had constructed a makeshift dark room. His photographs depict the life in the incarceration camps, capturing the buildings, such as barracks, guard towers, a hospital, fire station, and warehouse, the workers for farming, laundry, mess hall, and logging, and the sports games in which the incarcerees participated. Photographed are also the farewell scenes in which the incarcerees who were being transferred from the Jerome camp to the Tule Lake segregation camp.
