Manuscript from Charles Handy on the possibility of a program of meetings to discuss the role of family businesses in the future. The express purpose of the meetings, according to Handy, is to better prepare the next generation of families for their inheritance and to create a framework in which family businesses see themselves as trustees of the future, thus necessitating operation as both a vocation and a business. Handy proceeds to indicate that subsequent generations must continually recreate and refound the businesses they inherit, a process which calls for both innovation and respect for tradition. Also included is a list of planned meetings with descriptions of the agenda for each meeting.
