Photograph caption dated May 11, 1957 reads, "Tim Roelen was being hailed today as the greatest miler ever to slip on a track shoe in Valley League circles as he posted a blistering 4:22.3 yesterday at Van Nuys High. In setting the new league record, the San Fernando High veteran also bested the current city mark by one full second."
