Description
Photograph. "San Francisco, Calif. 12/15/58 -- World's largest mobile offshore platform, 'George F. Ferris,' just clears the Golden Gate Bridge as it heads for Los Angeles where it will assemble record-size ocean sewer pipe in 200-feet of water. Without stopping, huge DeLong platform jacked down its legs 57 feet to clear the bridge, then quickly raised them to clear offshore shoal. Hyperion Construction is the contractor on the $20-million sewer outlet project." -- typed note attached to verso. "Dec. 16 1958" -- stamped on verso
