Photograph. "San Francisco, Calif. 12/15/58 -- World's largest mobile offshore platform, 'George F. Ferris,' just clears the Golden Gate Bridge as it heads for Los Angeles where it will assemble record-size ocean sewer pipe in 200-feet of water. Without stopping, huge DeLong platform jacked down its legs 57 feet to clear the bridge, then quickly raised them to clear offshore shoal.
