Description: Image of a head-and-shoulders portrait of American actor Annie Pixley in character wearing a torn blouse and red neckerchief; with a fragment of a date sheet for a show at the Worcester Theatre; the poster presumably depicts Pixley as the title character in the drama "M'liss, the Child of the Sierras" based on a story by Bret Harte.
Probable date approximated by cataloger based on general show history; Pixley first performed in "M'liss" from 1878 and continued to act in the play into the 1890s. "J.E. Baker"--text, artist's signature in stone, lower left of image. "Forbes Co. Boston & N.Y."--text, bottom right. "Worcester Theatre"--text, date sheet, bottom margin.
