Opened on July 8th, 1923, this church at 813 S. Hope included a four-story Sunday school building and an auditorium that sat 3,000 visitors. Despite the efforts to protect the structure, it was demolished in 1983. Photograph caption dated February 7, 1983 reads, "Protesters rally outside landmark First United Methodist Church building downtown."
