Photograph article dated December 27, 1962 partially reads, "The darkly handsome goalie rocketed to fame as a member of the 1960 United States hockey team that shocked the world by winning its event at the Winter Olympic Games at Squaw Valley. Until McCartan began deflecting shots, the Americans had never been close to the Olympic hockey title."
