Description
Award of the first "Distinguished War Service" banner to a school for attaining a minimum of 25 pounds or more waste paper per pupil is accepted by Mrs. H. O. Schuster of Santa Monica Boulevard School PTA, and Bobby Waltreus, while Harry Troop, coordinator for the Board of Education, second from left, and D. D. Durr, chairman of the newspaper drive, look on. The banner was sponsored by the Daily News, Examiner, Herald Express and the Times newspapers.
