This an edited transcript of an oral history interview of Les Jonkey conducted by Peter Westwick. Les Jonkey was a manufacturing engineer and planner at Lockheed from 1937 to 1984. Jonkey was born 18 November 1918 and raised in Glendale, California. After graduating from Hoover High School he got a job on the shop floor at Lockheed, working on jigs, tooling, and parts, and later on production planning. In his 47 year career his projects included the Model 14 (Super Electra), Model 18, P-38, Constellation, L-188 Electra, F-104, S-3A, Cheyenne helicopter, and F-117A. From 1974 to 1984 he worked in the Lockheed Skunk Works, and he retired in 1984. [Object file name], Aerospace Oral History Project, The Huntington Library, San Marino, California.
