Description
The photo caption printed in the Sacramento Bee on October 25, 1964 states: "The view to the north one and one half miles west of Donner Lake shows the tortuous route of the old US Highway 40 in the foreground in striking contrast to the new four lane freeway lanes background, relocated two miles from the present highway."
