Description
Photograph caption dated July 11, 1984 reads, "If you chanced to observe LAPD officers such as Joseph Acosta and Kimberly Bragg on patrol near the USC Olympic Village yesterday, that was as it should be. The 24-hour patrols had begun 'sanitizing' the area, searching for hidden weapons or other hazards, in preparation for the arrival of the Olympic athletes beginning Saturday. Police wanted everybody to see them, particularly potential troublemakers. Also activated were two command posts that will serve as 'ad hoc' police stations near village sites on the USC and UCLA campuses. Action was made possible by agreement between the city and the LAOOC on the amount of the bill for Olympics security."
