Description
Image of United States President Abraham Lincoln holding a piece of paper and standing before a full waste basket while a little girl in a pink dress carrying a doll tugs on his sleeve and the Secretary of the Navy Gideon Welles looks on from behind the desk; an American flag is emblazoned behind the title of the play at top center; the poster advertises the naval melodrama "The Ensign" written by William Haworth.
Probable date based on general show history; the play was first performed in 1891. "The / Strobridge / Lith. Co. / Cin'ti - N.Y. - Lon."--text, bottom right. "Mary's plea for the ensign's life."--text, bottom centered. "4341"--text, top right margin.
