The church was bdesigned by Daniel Elliott and built by T-S Construction.
Photograph caption dated March 7, 1960 reads, "Crane lifts 6,545-pound church bell - largest in Southern California - into position at top of 100-foot tower of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Moorpark street and Dixie Canyon avenue, Sherman Oaks. Bell was cast by John Taylor Co. at Loughborough, England, and is five feet, two inches in diameter and four by nine feet high."
