Charles Handy thought for the day on certainty and faith, and how these qualities fit into organizations and leadership positions. Handy begins the article describing how, in order to live up to one's principles, one should have sticking points beyond which they will not go. These sticking points should, in turn, be rooted in a deeper certainty of faith, which comes from a meeting with God in life's darkest moments. Handy then ponders whether society as a whole chooses the wrong leaders, it preferring those who do not have the wisdom that comes from faith and God in the darkest moments, and pleads that those who have such wisdom continue to share it.
