Photograph of a young Walapai Indian woman with a pack on her back, Hackbury, Arizona, ca.1900. She stands facing the right in front of two Indian blankets hung on a wooden wall. Both blankets are striped, the upper one running horizontally, the lower running vertically. She stands on part of the lower blanket which hangs on the ground. Her pack hangs on her back from a cloth sling around her forehead. She is wearing a long plaid skirt, and a light blouse under a striped shawl or blanket around her shoulders. Her dark hair has cropped bangs and hangs to just above her shoulders. Part of a window in the wall is visible at right.
