Description
This circa 1950 postcard shows the Great Seal of the State of California as represented in stained glass. Installed in 1907 in the ceiling of the hallway leading from the California State Capitol building rotunda, the final composition for the Seal was confirmed on October 2, 1849. The presence of Minerva symbolizes the parallel of California's rise to statehood without first being made a territory.
