Description
The Sacramento County Courthouse, located on I Street between Sixth and Seventh Streets, is the subject of this photograph. The ornate yet rough-hewn building was state-of-the-art when designed and constructed between 1910 and 1913, but by the time this shot was taken circa 1955 the structure was showing it's age. In 1965 the brand new Sacramento County Courthouse found itself in a new location for the first time in over one hundred years, a solid block between Eighth Street and Ninth, G Street and H Street across the street from the old St. Joseph's School and convent.
