View of Will Rogers Memorial Park, located on Sunset Boulevard, across the street from the Beverly Hills Hotel. A fountain sits inside a lily pond full of koi-fish. A building, which could possibly be the famous five-star luxury hotel affectionately known as the "Pink Palace", is almost hidden in the background behind numerous palm trees and lush landscaping. The land for this five-acre park was a gift to the city from the Beverly Hills Hotel, back in 1915; prior to that, it was a part of the Hotel's front lawn. The park was named in honor of cowboy philosopher Will Rogers, in 1952. Beverly Hills Hotel was built in 1912 in the middle of lima bean fields at the cost of half a million dollars. It was renovated in 1995 at the cost of $100 million dollars. Who was in charge of paying for the renovation? The owner: the Sultan of Brunei.; Similar to image 00065842.
