Photograph was edited for publication purposes. David âDaveyâ S. Moore was born on November 1, 1933 Springfield, Ohio. He was an American featherweight world champion boxer and a member of the 1952 United States boxing team. Moore fought professionally 1953â63. He died on March 25, 1963 as a result of injuries sustained in a boxing match with Ultiminio Ramos Zaqueira, better known as Sugar Ramos. First photograph caption dated August 17, 1959 reads "Defends crown." Second photograph caption dated July 2, 1962 reads "Hard at work." Third photograph caption dated March 26, 1963 reads "Davey Moore."
