Shades of L.A. is an archive of photographs representing the contemporary and historic diversity of families in Los Angeles. Images were chosen from family albums and include daily life, social organizations, work, personal and holiday celebrations, and migration and immigration activities. Exterior view of D.W. Davis Groceries and Provisions store. Photo was taken at the site of the current restaurant (Little Joe's Restaurant) at 900 North Broadway. Building was originally constructed in 1886. The same building houses today's restaurant. Possible photo is of D.W. Davis. John Gadeschi bought the building from Davis in 1927.
