Photograph of the baptistry with original font of hammered copper made by Mission Indians at Mission San Gabriel, ca.1908. A picture of the full figure of Christ as shepherd hangs in an arched recess in the adobe wall behind the baptistry. A wooden floor stand holds an open book on it in the corner. A small table at left is covered with a lace cloth and bears a candle, a small dish or bowl and a sash. A small table at right is bare. The font has a hinged metal lid which is padlocked shut.
