Photographic portrait of Mayor George E. Cryer signing one of the first airmail letters and gags, April 17, 1926. Cryer is seated behind a large, dark-colored desk at left. He is wearing a light-colored suit and is signing with a large metal marker. A woman, possibly his secretary, is holding the massive letter at right. The woman has short, dark hair and is wearing a light-colored suit. There are curtains over the windows in the background at left, lamps on the wall at center, and the edges of two pictures at right. The letter reads as follows: "Executive Office City of Los Angeles California April 17, 1926 George E. Cryer Mayor Hon. James A. Walker, Mayor. New York, N.Y. Dear Mayor Walker: In behalf of the City of Los Angeles, I extend greetings to you and the people of New York, now but thirty hours [?]".
